FREE CITY
Founded in 1020YK, Free City is the first democratic city-state in Eberron History. Established strategically between the waters of Lake Galifar and the once named Blackcaps, it is the youngest and fastest growing city-state to this date It acts as an international trading port between the New World and Opportunity as well as the first line of defense. Free city has earned the identity of “The Bridge”, thanks to its placement on the map, and status as a trade route between the First World and New World, connecting the two as a beacon of unity between the two conflicting communities.
Among the ruins of old factories below the surface lies a festering community of rust and wrath. An 'UnderCity' housing thousands of unfortunate souls bound for exploitation and the unecessary brutality of peacekeepers.
City crest: A Falcon perched on a bridge, surrounded by a metal ring of beams and smoke beneath the core. The falcon is a symbol of vision, freedom, and victory. Vision for the sense of expansion and evolution the city has, freedom for its values in supporting the rights of both New and First World citizens, and victory for its sense of valor, and unwavering qualities. The bridge is of course the symbol of connection between the New World and Old World, an invitation to cross over and discover each other’s cultures. And finally the metal ring encompassing the design was initially meant to symbolize their foundation of innovation, unknown to them that they’d built the city above a network of warforged factories, giving the smoke encasing the bottom of the ring a second meaning.
